Sunny Kaste is a Nurse Practitioner specializing in family medicine and pediatrics. She can help patients maintain their health and wellness, as well as manage acute illness and chronic issues like diabetes.

Sunny enjoys being able to care for the whole family. Seeing babies, parents, and grandparents brings a lot of variety and joy to her day. Learning about relationships in families and watching families grow and change over time is one of the best parts of her job. Learning about a patient in context of their family really helps her provide care.

Sunny feels it's important for everyone to have access to quality primary health care and a caring provider who really listens. She also feels it's important to give patients as much time as they need to tell their story, and by listening carefully she builds a trusting relationship and partnership so patients can feel comfortable following her advice.

Sunny pursued a career in medicine, inspired by Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. At the University of Wyoming, she was fortunate to meet a wonderful nurse practitioner working at student health, who inspired her to also become a nurse practitioner. Sunny first earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing in 1998, working as a public health nurse for 7 years, then at the hospital for 7 more years, before becoming a nurse practitioner. As a nurse she mostly took care of pregnant women and children at the hospital and doing home visits with mom's and babies during her time with public health. Sunny graduated with her master’s degree from University of Wyoming in 2012 and started her career as a family nurse practitioner. She worked first in family medicine for 7 years, and then for the last 3 years worked full time with children at a pediatric clinic.

Sunny is married to her best friend, who she met when she was 18 years old. He is still her favorite person in the world. She has two amazing grown children. Her son lives in California and her daughter is in college in Vermont. She loves to be outside in the mountains and feels fortunate to live in one of the prettiest parts of the Rockies. She is an avid reader, reading every night before bed. Sunny is excited to practice in a small & close-knit community like Evanston, where patients are also friends and neighbors.
