Jeffrey Bray, MD, FACOG is a board-certified OB/GYN with over 20-years of experience specializing in women’s health, pregnancy, infertility, ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, irregular menses and other OB/GYN procedures. Dr. Bray’s initial interest was in research, but after working in a lab for a year he realized he needed contact with people. Medicine allowed him to combine his love of science with the ability to interact with people in a positive way. It was his father, also an OB/GYN, who influenced his vocational choice. Dr. Bray believes as an OB/GYN, there is a combination of procedure and surgeries with an element of continuity allowing him to care for people throughout their life.

Dr. Bray believes the key qualities a patient should look for in their OB/GYN is competence, experience, and someone who is never too eager to operate. The physician should discuss all non-surgical options as well. He can discuss with you when to be screened for breast cancer or when to get Pap tests to check for cervical cancer. Many women are unaware that most insurance plans also now cover an annual well-woman exam to discuss your overall health.

Dr. Bray’s practice philosophy is to care for patients with respect and compassion without judgement while giving back to the community. When it comes to delivering babies, every time a baby is born is a miracle to him. Seeing the joy on the faces of new parents is very rewarding.

Dr. Bray is excited to work in Evanston because of the city’s pace and patient population. “Being able spend time with patients will be a blessing. I will be able to extend my work life before retirement without burning out too soon. Modern medicine in busy city hospitals has become stretched too thin with constant pressure to do more with less. Evanston is much like the town in which I was raised in was like 40 years ago.”

Getting to Know Dr. Bray:

He met his wife in Albuquerque. She was the Labor and Delivery charge nurse and he, the impressionable intern (and she is still in charge). She works still as a per diem labor nurse. They have two daughters: one who plans to go to Nursing school and the other is majoring in Fashion design and merchandizing. Their family loves ski trips, Disneyland, Sun River, Ore, National Parks and Christmas morning.
